I don’t know what it is, but spiders sure seem to like me. We have killed them in the house. We have killed them in the car. I see their spider strings between the windshield and the dashboard. I have even seen some in the back seat of the car. When we came back from Raleigh last week I wanted to roll my window down when we were stuck in traffic because I was so warm. But there was a big spider on my window, and I didn’t want him to come inside. But the best spider incident was last week in church. I’m sitting there when something catches my eye. About a foot away from me a spider has just let himself down on his string. I laugh and point it out to Andrew who tells me to kill it. The spider lets himself down a little more and starts to stretch out his legs (he was upside down). I didn’t want to make a scene since he was about eye level with me, but I ended up taking the bulletin and then killed him on the floor. A few minutes later the air kicked on. Then I felt the spider string brushing my face because the air vent was blowing it on me. I got rid of that too. I don’t know why they have decided they like me (and each one ends up being a different kind), but it’s a good thing I’m not one of those girls who screams every time she sees a spider.
Ha! If that were me, I’d be screaming. Well, maybe not in church, but it’d take some real self-control!
This time of year, it seems that the spiders go absolutely crazy! They’ve got webs everywhere, and I end up walking through them when I’m outside in the evening or in the early morning. I guess they’re busily getting ready to make their egg sacs and then die and are pouring on their final efforts in the process.
