Frank and Tori’s wedding
This weekend we were able to go to Raleigh, NC for a wedding. We left Radford right after my class on Friday. Of course in Raleigh we got stuck in traffic and ended up getting in about 6:30. My parents and grandparents were waiting for us, and we went out to eat. Grandpa and grandma wanted to go to Golden Corral, and my mom had looked up their address on the internet the night before. We found the address, and instead of a restaurant…we were at their corporate office!! Come to find out there was no restaurant nearby. It was pretty funny. After supper we hooked up with Uncle Dave, Aunt Debbie, Stephanie, and Cameron. My brothers, Morgan, and Brandon came up later in the evening.
Andrew and I were staying in a room with my parents, and since it was the biggest one everyone gathered there. We played Apples to Apples. Since there were so many of us we had to play on teams. Andrew and Brandon won.
The hotel was really great. Ours had a full kitchen, table, two bathrooms, a loft, and a murphy bed. Andrew and I got the murphy bed. We had never slept in one before. It wasn’t all that comfortable, but at least we didn’t end up closed up in the wall.
The wedding was at 10am. It was between Frank Frausto and Tori Frye. Tori is my pseudocousin and that’s why so much of the family was there. We were told it would take about 20-25min to get to the church. Of course we took a wrong turn, and ended up at the church about 5 min before it started. We were still in the vehicles and the Frye’s come running out. Mr. Frye hands my dad a video camera (only warning my dad had about that was the night before when Mr. Frye said, “I might have some work for you.” We got out of the cars and as we were in the lobby getting ready to go in Mrs. Frye says, “Hurry, we need to close the doors and get started. So we walk to the 3rd row of the church and sit down. Seconds later the procession started. Even though Grandpa and Grandma aren’t really Tori’s grandparents they were honored as though they were. Good thing we got there in time for them to be seated (their flowers were getting pinned on as they were walking up to the church)! The wedding was really nice. We though it was going to be a weepy wedding (since a few years ago her brother’s wedding was terrible that way), but it wasn’t bad at all.
There was a reception at the church, and then all the out of town people were invited to a lunch reception. It was at an old house and the restaurant was called the Second Empire. It was quite the meal. Just to give you an idea…the bathrooms had lotion, mouthwash, and floss (although Brandon thought they were candy canes and took 3 of them). It took 2 hours to get through lunch, and it was delicious! We started off with bread and a salad. There were 4 choices for the main course. Trout, filet minon, something with rice, clams, tuna, and a chicken and noodle. I got the filet minon and Andrew got the trout. Both were excellent. Cheesecake was for dessert.
My family left soon after the reception was over, but Andrew and I stayed in Uncle Dave’s hotel room for a few more hours. Andrew got his hair cut, and we watched a movie. We left at 7:30 and should have been home about 11, but traffic was really heavy and we ended up taking an exit when we wanted to stay on the highway. Unfortunately, the exit we took was backed up with traffic because of the NC state fair. It took almost an hour to get back on to the highway. We didn’t get home until after midnight. It was a short trip with lots of driving, but we had a great time with all the family.
